Forget Spring Break!

Bookmark and Share

I am not going to Florida this month and I am having to come to terms with it. I am thinking it might have been a mistake but for good reason. What does Florida do for someone who relies on the sun to revitalize the "winter condition" of things? Well, it sure as hell makes you tan, so when you stare in to the mirror at [almost fifty] you stand a better chance of being smiled back at. Because the tan that's rendered from these trips help hide February blotches from spring break years past. Word.

So I have to figure out what I will do in order to kick start my attitude while staying here. Will I embark on something great? Should I set a goal and dive headfirst in to it? Should I get started on some home projects? Should I get some rest on the couch? Not this year. I am going to do what I already have going. Which has become quite the endeavor.

Pfoodman is building its new permanent headquarters on the third floor of the Lone Wolf Building. It is time. Finally a place that we can call our own. It will house our accounting office, a board room, our executive offices, everything we need in order to function as a unit. This will be a finishing touch for the company. Hopefully this will make things a little more tolerable for the office gals. I am hoping that they appreciate it. They will have access to the restaurant and occasionally be forced to bus tables if it gets too busy for the staff at LW. Heh.

Lindenwood is getting fired up and I am excited to get involved. The new Student Center that will house the new food court is well underway and under roof. We are looking to open that bad boy in about a year, the finishing touches on the student life is what this building is all about. In addition to the food court it will have a huge fitness gym, activities of all kinds, a clinic, a post office....The food court will house also Pfoodman's new brand palate; our proprietary brands that will be the catalyst for new innovation in the food service industry. We have new schools coming on line this year and the roll out of our new branding will make a big difference in our operations and the way we look and feel to our customers. Looking forward to this in the months to come.

The Lindenwood School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE). is in the final stages of candidacy for accreditation from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). A site visit took place on Monday and a group of us were on hand to communicate all that is good with Lindenwood and the special things taking place there. I have been involved with the Advisory Board since conception and affiliated with Lindenwood since 1993. Harmon Hall will be the site for the SBE and building is nearing completion. We look to have the rest of it finished by the fall of 2010. Great things happening at Lindenwood! It is my personal mission to help make the SBE a unique and driving force in education for budding and seasoned entrepreneurs. Rick Duree, another local entrepreneur and I request your involvement if you are like minded and want to make a difference. Contact me direct at Ralph@pfoodman.com, if you would like to be involved.

The Wild Canid Center (Wolf Sanctuary) still needs your help. As a new board member and chair of the development committee, I am motivated to help this cause for several reasons. First, because it is a St. Louis tradition, a 37 year tradition starting with Marlon Perkins of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. The St. Louis Zoo has been vital to our continued success and hats go off to the latest addition of board members from the Zoo in order to re-emerge as what we once were. Lots is happening with the wolves and I encourage you all to take part. Contact me if you would like to host a Wolf Howl, a party with your friends and/or associates at the center, to learn what the wolves are about and the great work that we are doing there.

My boat is in! The Hobie has arrived from my sponsor the Alpine Shop for my 340 mile Kayak Race down the Missouri River in July. The MR340 will likely be a the bucket list item of the summer. My other sponsors are Lone Wolf, Lindenwood University and Nutriformance. You can count on me to be bitching up a storm on day three. Just count on it.

Bike races. I have to get ready. My body is less than ready to perform at this point due to some sort of funk that I have had for the past couple weeks. Seems there is an issue with allergies, who knows? But I have the new Van Dessell frame coming in this week to build up the hard tail for this year. I won't assume that I will be ready for a while. But it will come, just like it always does. When "it" it ready. It = body.

I got enough on my plate. I don't have the time to sit on the beach with the others, swim with the porpoise, eat seafood each night in a party atmosphere, margarita's....

Going to Quebec in June to do a big ass Wapiti trip.

Going to the Big Ditch (Grand Canyon) for a big ass Wapiti trip.

Going to Ecuador for a Big Ass 19,000 mountain climb Wapiti trip.

The Canyon and Climb you can come to as well. Visit www.wapiti.com for details. Hurry, filling up fast.

Can't wait to hear about your adventure on the MR340. What have you or are you doing to train for it?
