It's not every time I book a band without hearing them first. But I will take the advice of Dave Beardsley over at Stlblues, and a host of others who say The Wolf is ready for the Jake.

In 2006 Jake Austin moved to St. Louis with little more than a box of clothes, a Ray Charles album, and a dream of reinventing Rhythm and Blues. After three years of songwriting and development, Jake Austin & The City Limits was formed and formally introduced to the St. Louis music scene. One can't dismiss the array of talent when Jake Austin & The City Limits hits the stage.

The screaming horns and frisky rhythms bring you back to the early days of Stax Records. This high-energy seven piece band fuses soul with rhythm & blues, making their music lively, compelling and memorable. After just four shows Jake Austin and The City Limits was invited to play at St. Louis' favorite concert spot - The Pageant. Just a few weeks later, the group found themselves opening for Grammy nominated Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

By sharing the stage with Blues and Soul greats such as Grammy Nominated Tab Benoit and St. Louis Legend Kim Massie, Jake Austin & The City Limits was introduced to the St. Louis music scene. Shows at hot spots such as Ciceros, 2720 Cherokee, The Gramophone and Beale on Broadway have cemented this group's place in the hearts of hometown fans. Jake Austin & The City Limits is proud to have a devoted fan base of young and old who want nothing more than to kick up their heels and dance the night away.
