Signage Snares Cyclist

Attempting to pass through the NARC area marked private at Castlewood State Park can be tricky. This sign apparently erected and placed in a way to purposefully cause bodily harm to those attempting to connect to Blue Ribbon from Castlewood, or vice-versa, caused me a double take, I lost control--got hung up a tad. Bunny hopping was the only option at cannon speed. Hyeah, I guess it is still January. Upon further inspection the sign clearly indicated to me that there shall be no hikers allowed. Like the rider in the foreground, we must stand clear on the meaning to be that which the sign clearly implies. No hikers. Nuff said.

Pfoodman Replaces Purina as Major Sponsor

Pfremmer suffers at last years Castlewood State Park endurance class event

New this year to the Velo Force Competitive Cycling Team kit is the Pfoodman L.L.C. title sponsorship. Pfoodman has been a sponsor of Velo Force for the past three years but just recently stepped up and replaced Purina as the title sponsor, says company CEO, Ralph Pfremmer.

"I have always looked upon the sport of cycling as that where one can achieve crazy fitness without busting up your knees" says Pfremmer. Just back from his second of two cartilage repair surgeries from traditional sports like Football. "We will rally some new team members and look to emerge as a solid team in 12 and 24 hour team off-road races as well as road racing and cyclo-cross races later in the year. Velo Force is once again sponsored by Big Shark Bicycles of the Delmar Loop.

Mike Gibson joins Pfoodman/Velo Force MTB Squad

Gibson is a freak. A Semi -Pro downhiller who travels all over the place competing in the stuff that most of us Midwest Missouri Peddlers don't get. He has competed in the Sea Otter Classic, a bunch of others that I don't even know of. Bottom line, he is an animal. Our task this year will to continue his cross country rise. As a fast twitch guy, last year he tossed himself into 12 hour, Burnin at the Bluff.... solo, as well as a bunch of cross country races in our series.

Mike can be found at the free ride park on most winter days. I am thinking the fitness will come on lap one of St. Joe....or not.

Hawkins Down Under Tour

Hawkins sent these photos of the Tour Down Under while drinking pails of Fosters on his vacation. Word has it he will indeed come back fit and ready for action. I certainly hope so. There are new kits ordered and he ordered the race fit. Kind of like the Robabank shop apron D has strapped on below.

Wal-Mart employment standards

Jay Nixon and The Tour of Missouri

Sent to Jay Nixon, 01-27-08

Hello Jay Nixon,

I am thrilled with your progress on the campaign and look forward to your success at becoming governor in the State of Missouri. My business partner Brian Dittmer has catered an event or two at William Woods University for you. We are happy to be supporters of your campaign. Visit us at http://www.pfoodman.com/.

I write a blog called The Ralph Account and am very much involved with advocating the benefits of competitive/recreational cycling throughout the region. Myself and others have worked hard supporting the competitive cycling scene in St. Louis and surrounding areas through sponsorships of competitive events—Charity rides, like the MS 150 bike tour in Columbia, UltraMax events at Insbrook, the Show Me state games, many USA Cycling events and NORBA events throughout the state as well as many other wellness oriented activities.

My business, Pfoodman Holdings L.L.C., is also a sponsor of http://www.stlbiking.com/, a comprehensive information portal to the cycling masses, a clearinghouse of information designed to encourage others to get in to cycling, wellness etc. In addition to my blog, I am a moderator for all forum discussions on the message boards and it is read by thousands.

Important to our cycling community is the success of the Tour of Missouri. There has been recent speculation about your position on the Tour of Missouri and it would be nice if you would respond to a couple of questions.

Will the Tour of Missouri continue to be supported through the tourism budget?
Will the Tour of Missouri be embraced by your administration as it was with the Blunt administration?
What is your position on the support of non-traditional sports in Missouri?

Would it be possible for you to answer these questions so that I might let our community know? I think it would be an excellent opportunity for you to address this topic. In addition, if you are indeed passionate about the Tour of Missouri, and are interested in the cycling community, and some of the other grass root fitness organizations that comprise, and you would like to express your position in person at a gathering, I would be happy to help organize, facilitate and donate food and beverage at the event. I can be reached by email at Ralph@pfoodman.com or by cell, 314-496-2317.

Best Regards,

Ralph Pfremmer, CEO

Blog-able

There is not much to report on the recreational front, due to the fact that winter has again scratched its nails down my blackboard of an attitude. This is really getting a bit ridiculous. Florida was a wash. Three days of 29 degree morning temps. The high around 55, coldest in 10 years, the water in the bay blown out to see, 30-40 mile an hour winds each night only to reveal the ugliness of all day low tide. Who can fish? WTF? I suppose we were lucky for the past several years. I may bail on Siesta Key next Christmas and jump on a plane to guaranteed high temp tidings of the Caribbean.

If Hawkins sends me some pictures of the tour down under, I will gladly post them. He called me from Strawlia yesterday and said that he he would spit three times, he could hit pro cycling's Phil Liggett. I happen to to think it is "just plain evil" to rub that in our faces.

Pfoodman business is brisk again, new openings on the forefront, the senior living piece continues to grow, more on the horizon with our unique development/operations template. If anyone wants in on the wave, let me know. I am sure we can figure out a way to open or partner with a development for senior housing. But don't think you can cash in too early. Cap rates are based on 10 years. So make sure you are in for the long haul before setting an appointment with your checkbook. We are quite proud of our current clients, who have taken to our method of turn key business development. Let Pfoodman/Silverset design, build, supply and manage the restaurants within your senior living communities. We have loads of resources to make you successful, and are most definitely committed to the industry.

Racanelli's got a shot in the arm from Pfoodman and our process to regionalize, energise and eventually franchise John Racanelli's concept. The best damn pizza I can find in town. John moved his Webster operation across the street from his current location, expanding the seating and rolling out his new suburban prototype. Nice work John. Congrats on your opening. Look for the next to be in St. Peters, then a major overhaul of the Delmar location in University City. More on this to come.

Lindenwood University continues to amaze me. I am so proud to be a part of this place. Not only did they create a cycling team, but Darren Marhanka has gotten down with the screening of Tour Baby Deux. Take a night off of the couch and participate in this.

Our Java's concept has taken off and the James Evan's, President, just approved an expanded coffee program for both Java 101 and Java 201. We will combine the brand with Seattle's Best coffee in an effort to provide those wonderful Starbucks quality specialty drinks on the Lindenwood campus. Hey, a four dollar caffeine buzz? I will just drink my coffee with a fork, like I always do.

This pic pretty much puts the obesity problem into a mans perspective.

January One Upping

Above please find Mr. and Mrs. January. I call them this, as we do others, for reasons like: They are in better shape than I. It is apparent that a lot of time has been spent by the couple, riding and training and preparing themselves for January peak. Which to me signifies their commitment to losing to me in the spring. Thanks, such a nice couple.

I had to bail on them about an hour and a half in to the ride due to some very cold fingers. The short track race is indeed going to be a reality. We plotted our course, while there in the 14 degree temps.

The Femur, Wapiti and Melbourne

Yeah, Darryl shoved this in our face last night. He is holding his breath real tight. He is down under catching the first of the pro race scene. Hmm... I don't see any hills. Crikey.

Certainly the most hip franchise opp.

Evos

This is a really cool concept that I stumbled upon recently. Looking forward to hearing from them in our quest for authentic process.
